Pears

When I moved to Washington, DC, bereft of a landscape that appealed to me, I began an eight year exploration of pears which I could do at any time of the day or night, inside or out. I began with the physical nature of the pear, watching them as they aged and sagged. Then I became fascinated with how pears reflected human relationships in the still lives I set up, and finally, I found that using the same subject matter over and over allowed me to focus more on other aesthetic concerns of color, light and transparency.
